Yes She Can: Venus Williams Gets Her Business Degree (And No, It’s Not Honorary)

Venus Williams is a business woman, designer, and one of the best tennis players in the world. Now, she’s also a college grad.

Williams, who’s currently battling it out at the U.S. Open, recently graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. The achievement comes four years after the tennis champ enrolled in I.U.’s online program,

Williams completed her last class this summer, and visited I.U. this past August to receive her degree, completing her lifelong dream of being a college grad.

“I’ve learned so much,” Williams said in a statement released by the university. “It was always my dream to have a business degree, and I ended up going to art school so many times, but in the back of my head I felt like I needed the tools to be a better leader, to be a better planner, to be better at all of the things I wanted to do in my businesses because I’m so hands-on.”

Williams completed her studies as part of a program between the university and the Women’s Tennis Benefits Association that “establishes our campus as the primary provider for baccalaureate online degree completion programs for WTA players.” Williams is the program’s first graduate.

Congrats Venus!
